How to Build a Capsule Wardrobe?
In our last blog post, we talked about fast fashion and its impact on the environment. We also talked about the ways you can shop to reduce your carbon footprint. Today, we take our talks on the subject a step further and discuss how one can combat fast fashion by building a capsule wardrobe.
What is a capsule wardrobe?
Though it sounds like a time machine to some other dimension, trust us, it is not that. A capsule wardrobe is a practice of editing down to clothes that fit your lifestyle. It involves remixing the clothes regularly so that you shop less and contribute to environmental conservation. It also helps you become a more eco-conscious person who does not get carried away by the latest trends in the market and shops sustainably.
Although the term capsule wardrobe seems to be in vogue today, its history goes back to the 1940s when it was used by several publications to categorize a small and compact collection of garments that harmonized together in color and style. The term was revived in the 1970s by Susie Faux, the owner of a London boutique called Wardrobe. According to Faux, a capsule wardrobe is a collection of few items of clothing that do not go out of style. These garments include skirts, trousers, and coats, which can then be paired with seasonal pieces. In the US, designer Donna Karen popularized the idea of the capsule wardrobe. In 1985 she released an impressive collection of seven interchangeable workpieces. Since then, the term has been widely used in the fashion media and has become a great option for people who want to live a sustainable lifestyle.
To live sustainably, you can recycle old clothes to give them a new life. You can also build a seasonal capsule wardrobe to mix and match clothes to suit your lifestyle. So, today let us discuss the essentials that should be a part of a spring capsule wardrobe. If you are new to this journey and have no idea how to build a capsule wardrobe, here is your guide to getting started -
Comfortable Bra
A couple of soft, organic cotton bras and briefs are an essential part of your capsule wardrobe. We recommend buying them in colors that will complement your outfits.
Convertible Dress
Two dresses for the price of one is a great way to minimize space and live consciously. Our convertible dress comes in a variety of flattering colors and can be worn on both sides.
Striped Wear
A classic, striped top is a must-have part of your capsule wardrobe. Choose our long-sleeved striped top or the sleeveless one, as per your style requirements.
Cozy Sweater
A spring wardrobe is not complete without a cozy sweater. Whether it is an oversized sweater or a dual sweater coat, don't forget to add one to your closet.
Relaxing Loungewear
For your spring capsule wardrobe, choose loungewear that best complements your style. If you want to try something new, go for our pointelle nighty. (Pointelle is a new plant fabric that we have introduced this season. It is a lightweight, breathable, cotton-knit fabric with subtle openwork. The openwork, which is usually in a geometric pattern, adds a delicate texture to our products.)
Effortless Pants
Your capsule wardrobe should always have clothing that never goes out of style, such as our effortless plants that you can wear to the office, dinner, and even yoga!
Bamboo Tights
Tights are another clothing item that is always in vogue. So, add our organic bamboo tights to your closet and flaunt those beautiful legs.
Tailored Jacket
Our tailored jacket works well in both formal and informal settings. (A great way to reduce the number of jackets in your wardrobe!) Pair it with our skinny pants for a formal look or our dress for an informal look.
Breathable Mask
In these times masks have become a part of every wardrobe. Pair our breathable, organic, cotton masks with your outfits to complete building your spring capsule wardrobe.
